Welcome to Kinson School Local History Web Site

Kinson is a thriving suburb of Bournemouth and there are many light industries, garages and shopping precincts. A commerative seat was placed where the Old Pound used to provide a resting place for cattle on their way to Wimborne market.

The village was taken over by Bournemouth in 1931.

This description could be true for many communities today but when you begin to peel back the layers of history you find that this area has been occupied by man in some form or another since the Stone Age.  Accompanying this occupation there is a story to tell of the people and there lives. The impact they have had upon each other, the environment and the legacy they have left for us to build upon and preserve.

A group of children at Kinson Primary School have been trying to find out about this legacy. They have been greatly helped by the local historians who have collected, collated and shared the evidence they have already. So that they could share and make this available to others the children thought they would build a web site. They now aim to produce a heritage leaflet that will be able to be used by classes when they study the history of their school and the local area.
